Las Animas resident Dennis C. Heady passed away December, 26, 2012 at the Bent County Nursing Home in Las Animas, Colorado, at the age of 80. He was born March 29, 1932 in Fort Story, Virginia to Dennis H. and Vera (Hyman) Heady.
Dennis served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1987 as Chief of Social Work at Ft. Lyon VA Hospital. Dennis was active in the Las Animas community. He was past commander and served on the honor guard of the Las Animas VFW #2411, board member of the Ft Lyon Credit Union, past president of Lion's Club and had served on the Las Animas School Board.
He is survived by his wife Jean Audrey (Scruggs) Heady, Las Animas; two sons, Edwin Dennis Heady and wife Joyce, Tulsa, OK, Jon Marc Talon and wife Christina, Lewisville, CO; one sister, Marie Schutt, Brookneal, VA; two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, six great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
